|Do you? |
Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path.- Psalm 109:105
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty –Jeremiah 15:16
I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. –Job 23:12
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17
The word of God is like water in the desert to someone who has an appetite for it. There are certain requirements that have to be fulfilled before one can gain anything profitable from the Bible.
You have to be born again (born of the Spirit and washed in his blood) because “the man without the Spirit does not accept things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." –1 Corinthians 2:14.
You have to thirst and hunger for it like Job, Jeremiah, and David.
You have to be willing to be submissive to the voice of God like Moses and Abraham.
You have to believe and accept the word of God as truth like the Thessalonians did (1 Thess. 2:13).
You have to do what the Bible says, not merely listen to or read it. –James 1:22.
Lastly and most importantly, you have to be prayerful! It is the key to unlocking the spiritual mind of Christ in us. “What a new light often shines from an old familiar text as you bend over it in prayer!” – R.A. Torrey
