BEING YOUNG
Donít let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of the Scripture, to preaching, and to teaching. ~1 Timothy 4:12-13

Many younger people are scared of preaching to grown ups. We see them doing things that we know are not becoming of a child of God, but because we think we are young, we donít say anything to them. The father is telling you to not let anyone look down on you because you are young. Donít let older people make you feel stupid when you know you are doing the work of God.

Donít get me wrong, we have to be respectful of our elders; so donít be rude when you are speaking to them. Iím just saying that we need not get scared or nervous whenever we speak to elders about God. We have to come to them with respect, confidence, and humility. When it comes to spirituality, a 15 year old can be a lot more mature than a 40 year old. God is telling you to set an example for young children as well as adults. He is telling you to set an example by the way you speak, the way you love, and just the way you are.

I remember I was once sitting with a group of grown ups, and I didnít agree with what they were saying, but I stayed quiet. My Spirit was telling me to say something, but I didnít. I just sat there quietly, until some other person who was about my age spoke up. After he said something, I said I agreed with him. After this, I kicked myself because the elders were very receptive to what he said, and I wished it were me that said something. I let the fear of being thought of as a dumb little kid get in the way of doing something I was supposed to do. So brethren, donít let anyone look down on you because you are young. Let them see through your actions and your words that they can learn a lot from you. Donít hide your knowledge of God because you think you are too young. When it comes to the work of God, we are all called to preach and teach regardless of age, so keep this in mind the next time you feel the need to stay quiet because you are ďyoungĒ.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
