|Why were we called? I always wondered what it really meant to be called, but after praying about it, I found a Bible scripture that spelled it all out.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of Godís favour and the day of vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despairÖ ĖIsaiah 61:1-3
We are called, no we are anointed to do much more than just preach the good news to people because the Spirit of God is upon us; we are also called to pray for them, to bind up the broken-hearted, etc. When Jesus was on earth, he befriended sinners and loved them into the kingdom. This is what we need to do as well. Instead of just telling people to give their lives to Christ, lets show them how and help them get started. Look at the example that Jesus set throughout the whole New Testament and just follow in his footsteps. We were called to win souls for the kingdom of Heaven and the verse above tells us how. If we are going to do something for God, lets go all the way with it, itís the least we can do.
It is the year of the Lordís favour, and we are privileged to have been called into his anointing, so brethren what are we going to do about it? We are going to have to give an account about this, so what is it going to be?
Stay blessed and spread the word.
