| THE CHURCH, THE BRIDE |
|“…because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification –Romans 14: 18-19
The problem with the Church and fellowships these days is that we treat them as if they are in the world. When someone offends us, as humans, the first thing we think to do is to complain to someone else about what this person or that person did; a.k.a gossiping. Rumors start to spread, and people start to leave Church and tell other people about how horrible Church people are, that they are worse that those who don’t even go to Church, etc.
God refers to the Church as his bride, and he expects us to prepare her for the marriage at the end time. When we start conflicts, and have issues amongst members of the Church, we rip the heart out of the body, and there is nothing left holding the body together, so all the other members fall apart.
The verse above is telling us to make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification. Love selflessly. Put all of your petty feelings aside for the greater good. Remember that it is not about you and leave the judging to God! Refuse to listen to gossip, because that makes you just as bad as the person gossiping.
I read somewhere that “It is my responsibility to protect the unity of the Church.”. It is my duty and yours as well. Do whatever it takes to ensure that the unity is protected, and if you notice someone working against that, practice conflict resolution God’s way (Matthew 18:15-17). When God comes back for that marriage, he is going to question each and every one of us about the part we played in preparing his bride. What is your answer going to be?
Stay blessed and spread the word.
