|Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. ĖHebrews 12:1
Have you ever tried to run a race with a duffel bag on your arm? How about trying to run in a potato sack? Do you run as fast as you would if you just ran without any hindrances? I didnít think so. Why then is it that we Christians often try to run a race with things that weigh us down? We see Christians every day struggling to move forward in their Christian walks, but they canít seem to move any faster because they not willing to throw off the weights.
You may think that you donít have anything bad in your life, but with Christ, good is sometimes not good enough. You cannot run averagely and expect to win the race. You cannot serve Christ in mediocrity and expect to finish first. What is it that is weighing you down? What are you carrying in your duffel bag? Is it friends that you canít let go of? Is it your job? Is it a hobby? Is it television? Is it a relationship? Is it food? Is it shopping? Is it the obsession with your looks? Is it pride? What is it? Think about this and really evaluate your life. Take a look at what you are wearing and decide if it is fit for a race. Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
You may think of your baggage as a good thing, but like I stated earlier God wants your best and you sometimes have to get rid of the good in order to do your best. There are many runners in a race, but only one finishes first. Think about it.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
