|Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. –Psalm 73:25-26 |
I was reading Psalm 73, and David wrote about how God is good to those who are pure in heart. At the same time, he said that he nearly lost his foothold because he envied the wicked because they prospered. Many Christians often think this way. We wonder why there are people out there who are non-Christians but are still blessed. We wonder why some people succeed and we don’t. We wonder why murderers are rich and we aren’t. This mentality is one of the quickest routes to slipping in our walk with Christ.
David said it best in the verses above. He says that the earth has nothing he desires!!! The material things that these “evil people” have are going to fade away in the end time, so why do we let it bother us? I understand that we want to be blessed with material things during our stay on this earth, but God says in Matthew that we are not to worry about these things. He commands us to seek first the Kingdom of God and everything else will be added unto us.
So brethren, instead of worrying about the abundance that the wicked have, focus on building up your abundance in Heaven because when this earth fades away, that is all that we will be left with. When that wicked person dies, he leaves all of his wealth behind for someone else, but when we die we get all the wealth that we have stored up in Heaven. Are you going to seek present satisfaction or ultimate satisfaction?
Stay blessed and spread the word.
