The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly forsaken, nor seen their children begging for bread…Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act! Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you, giving you the land. –Psalm 37: 23-34

The entire Psalm 37 chapter puts a smile on my face. It is such a heartwarming thought to hear what promises are in store for those who live godly lives. In the selected verses above, we can see that God delights in those who follow him, trusts him, and strives to do his will. God watches over him and makes firm every step he takes. If you want God to direct your steps, then seek his advice before you step out. When you put your trust in God and seek him in all you do, he takes a hold of your hand and will do whatever he can to make sure you don’t fall. The Holy Spirit he has sent to you will convict you so much that you will find yourself having a harder time falling into sin.

“Once I was young, and now I am old, yet I have never seen the godly forsaken, nor seen their children begging for bread.” If you recall the tale of the Israelite’s journey through the wilderness, you will notice that God promised them that as long as they were obedient, there would be enough food for everyone. The same promise is still true today for you and me. If you will only be obedient to the will of God, He will never forsake you, and you will never have to worry where your daily bread is coming from. I remember a pastor that once preached a sermon that for almost two years, he didn’t have any income, but he still never lost faith in God and his promise never to leave of forsake him. Surprisingly, every Sunday, his parishioners gave him checks and money because they felt led to do so, and he never had to ask for it. We serve a God that stays true to his promises! He is indeed a miracle working God.

Lastly, it is of utmost importance that you learn to be patient for the Lord to act. There are many times that you are required to wait on the Lord for that which he has promised to you, but if you travel steadily along his path, he will honor you and bless you with that which you desire. God loves you so much and he will never forsake you. If you can’t believe anything else, trust in that love and promise, and you can never go wrong.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
