|If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? Ė1 Peter 4:18
A friend of mine got some news last night that a friend of hers passed away. He was testing out his motorcycle (just riding around the block) and he swiped a parked car and flipped off the bike and today he is no longer with us. I am sure that he was planning on going back to school and work this week, but he is never going to get to do that again.
As I talked with my friend last night, we reflected back on our own lives and wondered where we would go if something were to happen to us. Death and the coming of Christ are things we donít expect and canít control, but we concluded that they are things that we can prepare for. So how do we prepare for death or for the coming of Christ?
The above verse says that it is hard for the righteous to get saved and the entire New Testament tells us how narrow the gate that leads to heaven is, so you need to do a lot to ensure that you get in through that narrow gate. You need to make your soul right with God through prayer, thanksgiving, charity, ministering, etc. Simply stated, read the Bible and do what it says. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for us to live everyday like it was our last. That boy that passed away probably wasnít expecting to die, he may have thought he had tomorrow to do things differently, but heís never going to get that chance.
So brethren please repent today! Do things differently today! Do more for God today! Stop cursing today! Stop having premarital sex today! Stop lying today! Stop stealing today! Stop committing adultery today! Stop being envious today! Start praying today! Start reading your Bible today! Start preaching to people today! Start giving to the needy today! Start going to Church today!
Tomorrow is not promised to you, so live today like there is no tomorrow. Forgive anyone that has hurt you. If you love or care for someone, let them know how you feel. Spend time with your loved ones and take the best care of yourself.
LIVE FOR TODAY! You are not guaranteed a tomorrow.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
