|<Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken. –Psalm 15
Need I say anymore???
There is someone reading this devotion right now that needs conviction. Someone who takes his/her service to God for granted and fails to see that (s) he can’t dwell in the Lord’s sanctuary or live on his holy hill if (s) he continues in their way.
Do you want to be counted amongst those who will dwell in the sanctuary of the Lord? Make your walk blameless… Your walk should epitomize that of true child of God. Be truthful in all of your undertaking. Look out for the best interest of others, and not just yourself. Stir clear of bad company, or they will corrupt your good character. Despise evil and the evil that people do.
Fear God and keep his commandments. When you make a vow, don’t delay in fulfilling it; let your word be your bond, no matter how difficult it is. God says through King Solomon, that it is better not to make a vow, than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Give sacrificially! Give your time, your money, your love, and just be willing to spend yourself for the benefit of the Lord and for the less privileged.
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate, and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” –Matthew 7:13-14
Heaven is not an easy place to get into! You have to do a little more than just scratching the surface of your worship to God. You have to do more than just the bare minimum. You have to fight battles and overcome temptation. You have to go against everything that your flesh is pushing you to do (in a sense, you have to constantly battle against yourself). If you are finding it easy to worship God, then you seriously need to reflect on your life and make sure you are on the right path. He is GOD! Serve him like he deserves to be served! Worship him like he ought to be worshipped! Give yourself like he did for you on the Cross of Calvary!
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it….” -Matthew 16:24
