|"Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness" ~1 John
Do you tell little white lies? Do you gossip about people, knowing you
shouldn’t? Do you ever find yourself committing little sins?
There is no such thing as little sin. The scripture above says that everyone
who sins breaks the law. It doesn’t say that anyone who kills or steals breaks
the law. Sin is sin, no matter how little or harmless we think it is. The moment we begin to categorize sin as being big or little, we try to justify the wrong we did, and God is not pleased with that. That was what Adam tried to do after he was reprimanded by God in the garden; and God was not pleased in the least.
I used to be in the habit of joking around and telling little 'harmless' white lies to people and also talking about others (gossiping). I used to think that as long as I was just doing this to have a good time, then it is not a big deal. I now know that it is a big deal.
In the end, I am going to be judged based on the same criteria as those who
murder or steal. The Bible tells us to follow the 10 commandments and some
other rules, and going against them is committing sin (period).
So brethren, the next time you catch yourself committing a “little” sin, think
about the fact that God judges everyone of us impartially. Strive for perfection
and try to cut of sin in general from your lives. Don’t justify committing sin
by saying that it is not a big deal, because to God, it is all a big deal, everything is a big deal. It should all be a big deal to you as well.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
