|Be imitators of God, therefore as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrance offering and sacrifice to God. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be any obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person –such a man is an idolater – has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. –Ephesians 5:1-4
I have noticed something about many Christians today. Many of us have trivialized our worship to God and don’t take it as seriously as we ought to. Some of us have gotten so comfortable where we are that we don’t even remember what it feels like to grow! WAKE UP, O SLEEPER, RISE FROM THE DEAD, AND CHRIST WILL SHINE ON YOU!
This Christian walk is definitely not something to be taken lightly. It is not something that we can just drop and pick back up when it is convenient. We are expected as dearly loved children of God to be imitators of Christ. We are expected to live sacrificial lives. We are expected to refrain from sexual immorality, coarse joking, greed, impurity, obscenity, foolish talk, coarse joking, being stagnant in our walks, hatred, discord, selfish ambition, envy, drunkenness, pride, etc. Those who indulge in these things have no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Brethren, please wake up from your slumber…move away from stagnation and let God and the world see your progress and growth. Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Feed on the fruit of the spirit and delight yourselves in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, truthfulness, etc. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. The Sprit is constantly moving and attempting to implement growth in our lives, but because sin and our lackadaisical natures, we continue to put out that fire. I urge you to constantly add fuel to the fire of the Holy Spirit within you through obedience to the word of God and worship to the Almighty.
If you want to inherit the kingdom of God, you need to do more! You need to be more! You need to gain more! Many are called, but only a few are chosen. Do whatever it takes to ensure that you will be among the chosen few. Do whatever it takes to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Rekindle the fire that burned inside of you when you first came to Christ and tap into it. Let it guard your Christian life, and let it push you forward in your walk with Christ.
I pray that God will give us the strength and wisdom to constantly live our lives being imitators of him so that we too may inherit his Kingdom and be partakers of his glory on the last day. AMEN!
Stay blessed and spread the word.
