“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” –Isaiah 60:1-3
Take a few moments and picture something with me. Imagine yourself walking down a really busy street, and all of a sudden you hear a loud roaring thunder and everything around you becomes covered in absolute darkness. There was a black out in the entire world, what are we to do? Everyone is panicking! Children are crying, and still you see absolutely nothing! You begin to think to yourself; is it the end of the world? I have never seen anywhere this dark in my life, and I sleep with my lights off.
Suddenly, somewhere down the street, you see a bright light. You don’t know where or what exactly it is coming from, but still you feel drawn to it. As you make your way towards the light, you notice everyone else is doing the same. You try to squeeze your way through, and eventually, you make it to the source of the light. The source of the light was…
This is how God sees the world; the initial state of absolute darkness. We his Children are designed to be the Light... "The Light of the World." Just like you were drawn to the light in the scenario I painted, people in the world will be drawn to you. The world is in a state of darkness and utter degradation and we are called to be that bright light that draws people.
This is God's plan, when we begin to function in our POSITION as children, we bring his glory upon the earth and MEN and WOMEN are drawn to our (HIS) light...Remember the moon has no light of its own, it only reflects the light from the SUN .............This is how we should live...LIGHT of the world.... Our Christianity should not be by mouth alone but also by our actions… (Oluwole Fagbohun)
Again, remember the moon has no light of its own; it only reflects the light from the SUN. The same way, true Christians don’t have a light of their own; they only reflect on the light from the SON. Do you have the son in you? Why don’t you let him shine in today? A goldsmith was once asked how he knew the gold was pure enough after fashioning it, and he replied, “When I see my reflection in it.” If Jesus were asked the same question about us, he would probably say the same. Are you pure enough? Are you reflecting the light of the Son? Would he see his reflection in you? (Reflect on that!)
I pray for you; I pray that the Lord should cause you to have a deep revelation of your roles in the Kingdom, so that you can SHINE and bring glory to him...
“You are the light of the world.” –Matthew 5:14a
