|Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. –Psalm 25:12
Are you struggling or have you struggled with making the right decisions? How have you dealt with these? Did you seek advice from all of your friends and loved ones? Were they helpful?
This verse offers a sure way to receive God’s guidance. It asks us to fear the Lord, but what does that mean? Fear in this context means “to revere and to respect.” When we seek out guidance from God with a spirit of reverence and respect, we will surely receive it because God has promised to give it to us. So before you make any decisions, go to God and patiently await his guidance. I say patiently because we don’t always get the responses we want or when we want them. We have to be willing to be obedient to the will of God and to his instructions.
Through impatience, many have made hasty decisions even though we didn’t feel at peace with them. We have to be willing to wait on God. We have to PRAYERFULLY restrain ourselves from jumping into things that just look good, so that we can FAITHFULLY await something better; God’s best.
Notice that the verse above says that God will instruct us in the way chosen for us. This means that God already has His best chosen for us, so we just have to take his hand and allow him to lead us in the way already chosen for us. We may begin wonder how he will speak to us or show us this way, but that is part of the beauty and mystery of God. As long as we stay faithful to him in all of our undertakings, he will reveal it to us somehow and we may not even realize it until after we have made the decision. That is the beauty of the Holy Spirit within us.
