|You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear. --Romans 8:15;
Read Matthew 6:34, Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 23.
With everything going on in the world; terrorist attacks, diseases, robberies, sniper attacks, etc, it is very easy to give into the spirit of fear. Our world is filled with fear, the fear that comes because of the moral degeneration of society, the rapidly declining stock market, anthrax scares, and so on.
As Christians, we have an advantage over the world!!! We have a father that is asking us to cast all our cares upon him; we have a father that constantly assures us that we cannot accomplish anything by worrying. He is telling us that we donít have to bother ourselves with the worries of the world, because in him we have absolute peace. I understand that it is hard to ignore all the things that are going on around us, but what is dwelling on them going to accomplish? Sleepless nights, headaches, mental stress, aggravation, depression, etc. Why would you want to do that to yourself?
We have free will! We have the choice to either accept Godís peace or to accept the worldís stress. Donít say that you canít help but get scared because that is not true. Our lives are at risk 24/7. A friend was telling me about a man was sleeping in his room in the basement when a car crashed into the roof and paused only a few inches away from his head. How about those that got caught in the middle of a gun fight, or even get hit with a stray bullet while watching TV in their house? Or those that go to sleep only to wake no more? If we worry ourselves with these, we will not live life! Fear takes our mind off God, and he tells us in his word that we ought to keep our minds stayed on him. When our minds are not stayed on God, we give the devil a foothold. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but that of a sound mind!!! Distinguish yourself from the world. Have faith that God is your protector, and he will guide your steps so that you are kept out of harmís way. Rest in his peace!!!
Fear is a burden we are not called to bear. Instead, we are to lay our concerns on Christ because He cares for us!!!
How can we walk with the Lord and experience His peace when we're paralyzed with worry?
Stay blessed and spread the word.
