ďMartha, Martha,Ē the Lord answered, ďyou are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.Ē ĖLuke 10:41-42

There are many times that we get so caught up in doing different things that we forget to just relax and bask in Godís love. In the verse above, the scenario was Jesus and his disciples were walking down a street, and a woman named Martha opened her home to them. When they came in, Martha was running around trying to get everything prepared, while her sister Mary just sat at Jesusí feet looking up to him with loving eyes and listening to him. Martha came to him and asked if he didnít care that her sister just sat around and left her to do all the work, and then verse above is the reply that he gave to her.

We need to be careful not to do so much that we forget to enjoy Godís love. There are just sometimes when we need to get away from everything and everyone and just bask in Godís love and listen to him. When we get too distracted like Martha did, we canít hear God, and if we donít hear him, we canít know what his purpose for our life is. So brethren, I urge you to take some time out of your busy schedules to just sit quietly at Jesusí feet like Mary did and listen to him (verse 39), because that is what he wants from you.

In addition, I want you to reflect on yourself and your service to God. What kind of Christian are you? Are you like Mary; you know how to serve and also sit at Jesusí feet? Are you like Martha; you get frustrated because you do so much and diligently serve God with the best intentions, but without choosing the one thing that truly matters, a continued focus on Jesus? (One this I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.-Psalm 27:4) Or yet, are you neither; you are too busy with your personal pursuits that you forget to even serve God?

Do not become weary in doing good. Take time out to just sit and Jesusí feet and just gaze at his beauty and bask in his love. There is nothing as relaxing as being in the presence of the Lord. Choose what is better, and like Mary, it will never be taken away from you.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
