BAD THINGS & GOOD PEOPLE
Why does a good God allow bad things to happen to good people?

Life confronts us with some situations that make us ask this question. The whole Sept 11th incident, good people dying, Christians losing their jobs, etc are some good examples. The above question was perfectly depicted in the book of Job. This was a man that lived a very righteous life, but he was allowed to suffer a great deal. His faith was stretched so far that it almost reached a breaking point. God eventually blessed the latter part of his life more than the earlier, but he went through the storm of his life to get there. The ironic part of Job's tale was that God allowed him to face trials because he was so righteous. God had so much confidence in him that he put him in direct battle with Satan himself.

No matter how hard we try brethren, we can never fully fathom the way God works with us. There are many things that happen that we don’t and may never understand, but that is where faith comes in. Though God eventually came to Job's rescue, he still never told him why he faced such hardship. Job never knew the reason for his trials, but once he saw God's hand in it, it didn't matter. He had faith that God knew best. God's thoughts and ways are so mysterious that it is even pointless to try to figure him out. He doesn’t shelter us from the wickedness and suffering of a broken world, but he definitely uses those situations for our ultimate good.

God through Paul said in Romans 8:28 says “and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” He always has our best interest at heart, but many people misquote this verse to mean more than it says. If you read down further to verses 35-39; you will see that God warns us that difficult times are bound to come, but they can be used in God’s overall plan for good. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us…” Remember the story of Joseph? His brothers sold him and told his father he was dead. Joseph was probably thinking, ‘God, what did I do to deserve this?’ But then look how God turned it all around and blessed him!!!

This is the way God works. Everything in your live happens for a reason…there is no such thing as coincidence when it comes to God, so don’t question Him when something goes wrong in your life. He loves you so much, but he never said this Christian walk was going to be easy. Most of the most richly blessed people went through trials and tribulations before their blessings rolled in. If you have God in your life and walk by faith, you have nothing to worry about. You ought to be able to boldly stare tribulations, hardships, and even death in the face and have no doubt that God has a great plan for your life. Have faith in him and never for a second doubt that he loves you and has your best interest at heart. Do your part, and watch the blessings start rolling in. Obstacles may come, but with God, you can soar above them. Most importantly, find a the purpose in you hardships and grow from it!

Stay blessed and spread the word.
